2009 Toyota CAMRY Parking Brake problems & defects.

Toyota CAMRY Parking Brake problems : 1.

Several Weeks Ago, I Had A Couple Of Incidences, Where My 2009 toyota camry Gear Lever Would Not Shift From Park To Drive. After Several Attempts Of Turning On/off Ignition, Depressing Brakes, And Tugging Lever, The Gear Would Then Shift From Park To Drive. On 08-01-2010, I Went To The Mall And Spent Several Hours There. When I Turned On The Ignition, Feet On The Brakes, The Shift Lever Would Not Budge. After 30-45 Minutes Of Trying To Shift The Lever, I Decided To Call Mall Security To Call For A Tow. The Security Guard Suggested That He Should Give It A Try, “the Lever Shifted From Park To Drive”. I Was Very Concerned. In The Previous Incidences, It Never Took So Long For The Lever To Shift. The Incidences Have Occurred First Thing In The Morning; After Work Or After The Car Has Been Sitting For A Number Of Hours. On 08-02-2010, I Took The Car To The Dealership, First Thing In The Morning; I Was There At 6:35am. After I Explained The Above, They Inspected And Test Drove The Car. The Service Person Came Back To Me And Informed Me That Something Must Have Spilled On/in The Gear Box. I Absolutely Denied That Assumption. He Then Stated That They Would Take Apart The Gear Box. Again, He Came Back And Stated That Something Sticky Was Found “on Top” And Gave Me An Estimate For Replacing Gear Shaft. Again, I Absolutely Denied That Anything Fell On Or In The Gear Box. And, Why Was I Not Summoned To Look And This Sticky Residue. He Then Called The Service Manager, Who Attempted To Explain That He Could Not Justify Replacing Gear Shaft Under Warranty Because The Problem Is Not Being Detected At The Present Time. And, There Is About 7 Or 8 Reasons Why The Gear Lever Would Not Shift. However, They Gave Me A Quote To Replace Gear Shaft. I Was Able To Speak To One Of The Technicians, Without The Manager Being Present, Who Stated That There Was Something Definitely Wrong With The Gear Shaft. *tr

We Bought 2007 camry In July Of 2007. My Wife Drove It To Work And Got An Accident On 12/5/07. When She Exited Highway, She Used Gas Then Used Brake To Reduce The Speed. The Brake Did Not Work. The Car Sped Out Of Control And Hit The Side Of Hill. The Car Was Roll Over To One Side And Totaled. My Wife Was Badly Injured And Was Sent To Hospital Emergency Room. She Got Some Cuts In Her Head By The Broken Window And She Had To Stay At Home For About 2 Weeks Before Going Back To Work.we Believed Something Wrong With The Car Brake Or Gas Pedal. And When The Car Hit The Side Of Hill, None Of Car Safety Air Bags Came Out. The Car Was Totaled And Paid By Our Insurance. But This Accident Gave Her A Long Time Fear And Bad Feeling When She Passed That Place. We Hope We Can Join The toyota Class Action Lawsuit. Please Give Us Some Suggestions. Thanks! *tr

I Have A 2007 Japanese-made camry. I Bought At A Premium (well Above Invoice And Above Msrp Because Servco Hawaii Does Not Give Discounts) Thinking I Was Paying For A Reliable And Well-made Vehicle. I Have Had Other toyotas But None With As Many Problems As This Vehicle. And, With All The News Of Accelerator Problems, I Would Like My Problems Checked And Not Be Charged For It. I Do Not Like The Idea Of Having To Pay $103 (1hr Labor) X 3 Different Accelerator Issues + Another $103 To See Why There Is The Smell Of Gasoline Coming From The A/c Vent. 1. When Stepping On The Accelerator, I Will Get No Response… I Continue To Depress The Gas, Still No Response. Then Finally, The Car Will Thrust Forward Violently. This Has Been Mentioned To toyota Hawaii Dealer Several Times Saying It Was Normal For Drive By Wire Vehicle And That It Will Take Some Getting Used To. 2. When Accelerating Slowly, The Car Will Rev High Without The Automatic Transmission Upshifting.. I Have To Depress The Gas More And The Car Will Rev Even Higher Before Upshifting. 3. On 2 Different Times, The Car Has Revved And Jumped Forward While Not In Gear. The First Time Was At An Intersection. I Shifted Into Neutral With The P-brake On And It Felt As If Someone Hit My Car From The Rear. The Car Jumped Into The Busy Crosswalk About 2 Feet Until I Hit The Brake Pedal And Shifted It Back Into Drive. Another Time Was At The Drive-thru Window In Park. The Car Didn’t Move But Jerked Violently. Both Were On Flat Surfaces. 4. When Under Heavy Acceleration, The Car Sometimes Give Off The Smell Of Gasoline. It Is Not Exhaust Fumes But Smells Of Raw Gasoline. A/c In Recirculate Mode. I Also Have Been Having Numerous Other Quality Problems With Excessive Rattling Of Trim And Door Ajar Alarm Going Off For No Reason. *tr

This Complaint Deals With All toyota Cars With Rear Wheel Drum Brakes. On My Car And Many Others Possibly The Pedal Is Soft Has To Go Down Quite A Ways To Activate Brakes. On Several Occasions Although I Drive Conservatively I Feel My Braking Was Compromised When I Need Quick Braking Response. I Believe The Reason Is The Automatic Adjustment Mechanism On My Rear Brakes Was And Is Not Working. This Mechanism On All Modern Cars With Rear Drum Brakes Adjusts For Wear By Bringing The Brake Shoes Closer To The Drum When Backing And Braking. An Automatic Adjustment. When The Mechanism Isn’t Working The Rear Brake Shoes Get Farther And Farther From The Drum Due To Wear And One Must Push The Brake Pedal Farther And Farther Down On Braking To Get The Shoes To Contact The Drums Before Braking Can Begin. This Delays The Braking Time Of The Driver Considerably. Recently Getting New Tires The Mechanic Noted My Soft Brake Pedal And Removed The Rear Brake Drums And Manually Adjusted The Shoes To Bring Them In Light Contact With The Drum. My Brake Pedal Got Hard Again And Activated At The Top. toyota Should Bring The Cars In To Check This Lack Of Adjustment Problem As I Wouldn’t Doubt There Have Been Accidents Because Of It. With The New Cars With Disk Brakes The Pads Are Always Against The Disk And The Is No Soft Pedal Problem. *tr

Toyota CAMRY Parking Brake problems : 1.

My Headlights Are Very Dim, Fortunately I Have Not Crashed At This Point But I Have Swerved And At Near Accident Situations. I Cannot See In The Dark And I Am Forced To Use My High Beams. Around Summer Of 2010, I Crashed M Y Car On A Curve Going To San Francisco, Ca On Highway 85. As I Was About To Curve I Slowly Went From 65 Mph To 25 Mph Or A Bit Lower To Curve Correctly. My Steering Wheel Locked And I Was Not Able To Curve Appropriately So My Car Continued Straight And Hit The Side Of The Curve (luckily It Was Blocked By A Steel Highway Fence). I Replaced The Drivers Door And Front Bumper With An Awful Off Color Paint Job. I Did Not Make A Police Report And I Did Not Contact My Insurance. I Fixed My Car And Now I Am Afraid It Might Happen Again. Property Damage Of My Car Was Done. My Window No Longer Works And My Key Entry Is No Longer Functioning As Well Due To The Crash. *tr

2005 toyota Scion Developing A Potential Seat Problem. *mr The Consumer Experienced The Same Problem With Two Different Vehicles. Both Were Purchased At The Same Dealer. In Both Cases The Vehicles Would Roll Backwards. The Second Vehicle Was The Consumer’s Mother’s Vehicle In Which The Vehicle Had Rolled Backward After The parking Brake Was Applied And Struck The Garage Door Opener (this Occurred Twice And Caused Significant Body Damage). The Consumer Noticed With Her Own Vehicle That With The parking Brake Fully Applied, The Vehicle Would Still Roll Backwards, If Not Placed In Park. The Second Incident With The Consumers Vehicle Occurred When Placed In Neutral, The Vehicle Rolled Backwards As If The Brakes Weren’t Applied. *sc *jb

Car: 2005 scion Tc Purchased: Mcgee toyota Of Hanover, Ma In May 2007. -emergency Brake Failing 2 Weeks After Purchase, Which Caused An Accident. -the Dealership Misdiagnosing The Wheel Bearing (2-3 Times, Finally Fixing It). -we’ve Been To Mcgee toyota Probably 5+ Times Now, And Woburn toyota Twice, All For Problems With A 2005 scion Tc. One Of The Other Issues Was When My Wife Bought The Car, She Bought A toyota Extended Warranty. We Noticed A Few Weeks After Purchase That The Weather Stripping Was Dry-rotting, And Woburn toyota Said They Wouldn’t Replace It Since It Wasn’t A Factory Windshield. We Were Originally Told By Mcgee toyota That We Could Take This Car To Any toyota Dealership And The Warranty Would Be Valid. Why Were We Not Told By Mcgee toyota When She Bought The Car, That The Windshield Had Been Replaced? Mr Murphy Said He Would Do Anything In His Power To Make Us Happy. Mr Murphy Said He Would Replace All Four Tires On The Car (because We Also Noticed There Were 3 Different Tires On The Car), As Well As Replace The Windshield For Us. We Picked The Car Up Yesterday, To Find Her Seats Leaned Back (it Looked Like Some Teenage Kids Just Got Done Joy-riding), Two Bubbles In The Middle Of The New(another Aftermarket Windshield, Which Is Not Covered Under Warranty ? Again!) Windshield, A Loud Squeal Coming From The Engine When Revved, And The Clutch Making A Very Loud And Noticeable Squeak When Depressed. It Seems That When We Bring The Car In For Something, We Leave With 2-3 More Problems. When Addressed By A Manager, It Comes To No Avail. I Attempted To Talk With A Manager About Those Issues, And When I Refused To Shake His Hand, We Were Asked To Leave! There Are Many More Issues With This Car, Which Are Too Many To List In This Initial Complaint. *tr
