2007 Toyota CAMRY Power Train Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problems & defects.

Toyota CAMRY Power Train Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problems : 1.

I Purchased A 2007 camry Le In Late April. From The Day I Took Delivery, There Appeared To Be A Problem With Acceleration; There Were Dead Spots. That Led To Long 3 To 5 Seconds Lag Times Before The Car Would Respond When Pressing Down On The Accelerator. Also, The Transmission Shifted Into Overdrive When A Steady Acceleration Was All That Was Needed. I Finally Took It To The Dealer Today; I Thought That I Would Allow A ‘break-in’ Period To See If The Problem Resolved Itself. The Moment That I Began To Describe The Problem, I Was Stopped And Asked If It Was A 2007 camry Le. An Affirmative Response Brought An Answer That There Is Nothing That They Can Do; It Had Been Reported To toyota. Apparently To Deflect What Must Have Looked Like Rising Anger, I Was Told That The Service Manger’s Daughter Has The Same Problem. A Call To toyota Of America Brought A Response That The Vehicle Is Operating As It Was Designed (so, I Guess It Was Designed To Stall When Making A Right Or Left Turn, Changing Lanes On The Interstate, Trying To Go Forward, Etc). My Anger Is 1) That They Sold Me A Defective Car, 2) That They Know It Is A Factory Defect But Choose Not To Fix The Problem (i Can’t Believe That They Are Still ‘thinking’ About A Solution), And 3) That I Wasn’t Notified Of This Rather Major Defect (and Why Is toyota Allowed To Continue To Sell These Cars Without The Caveat That There Is A Factory Defect That Has Not Been Repaired And toyota Has No Plans To Provide A Repair)? I Have Looked At Over A Dozen Web Sights Where Members Have Complained, But I Have Not Seen A Mention Of The Reason For The Problem Or A Solution Of What To Do. Someone Is Going To Be Killed By This Erratic Behavior. *jb

2004 Toyota CAMRY SOLARA Power Train Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problems & defects.

Toyota CAMRY SOLARA Power Train Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problems : 1.

I Purchased A 2004 toyota Solara Sle V6 From Superstitions Springs toyota In Arizona Just Over 24 Hours Ago. When I Started To Drive It Yesterday I Almost Got In A Bad Accident On The Highway When Someone Started To Pull Over On Me. I Hit The Gas Pedal And Went Nowhere For At Least 1-2 Seconds. Thank God The Guy Heard My Horn. I Went To The Dealer And They Said ‘they Could Feel It Too’ But There Was Nothing Wrong With It. I Had Read A Customer Comment About The Problem Just Once And There Was A Reply That Said There Was Some Download For It. When I Mentioned This To The Service Dept. They Said They Checked And There Were No Downloads For It. Told Me That It Was Operating As It Should And There Would Be Some Hesitation, Then Started In On Some Engineering Explanation, And Said They Have Some Specialist Come In Once A Month From toyota And He Would Ask Him About This Issue. I Tried To Reiterate That This Is A Huge Safety Issue And Needs To Be Corrected Now, But Got No Different Reply. I Had Noted Some Slight Hesitation When I Was Test Driving It, But Really Didn’t Notice Any Appreciable Hesitation When I Very Briefly Had It On Expressway Drive (only Allowed About A 1/2 Mile Then Told To Turn Off). However Yesterday When I Finally Drove It, I Started To Feel Like I Was Getting Whiplash From The Hesitation, Lunging And Jerking Around, And Then I Almost Got In A Bad Accident Because Of It. Now I Am Stuck With A Car I Don’t Feel Comfortable Driving And Have A Huge Loan Hanging Over My Head To Boot. I Guess I Will Just Drive It As Little As Possible So I Don’t Get Killed Due To An ‘engineering Problem’ And Then Get Rid Of It As Soon As I Can. I Will Never Buy A toyota Again. Big Mistake. At Just Over 17,000 Miles On The Spedometer, The Check Engine Light Illuminated. I Took It To My Dealership, Which Informed Me That The Problem Was A Shift Solenoid. Upon Replacing The Shift Solenoid, The Check Engine Light Continued To Illuminate, And I Was Told That The Problem May Be The Torque Converter On The Transmission, But The Technical Expert Was Contacting toyota Becuase He Could Not Definitively Pinpoint The Problem. I Enquired Whether The Problem Could Be Related To The Current Investigation Of The Throttle Valve On 2002 Solara’s And Could Not Get A Straight Answer From The Service Manager. In The Meantime, I Had Been Told The Vehicle Was Drivable When The Problem Seemed To Be The Shift Solenoid So I Had Been Driving The Vehicle For A Week With The Check Engine Light Illuminated, Assured By The Dealership That The Problem Had Nothing To Do With The Drivability Of The Vehicle. Upon Discovering The Problem May Be Related To The Transmission, They Insisted On Keeping The Vehicle, And Have Been “running Tests” On It Since Yesterday, With Still No Answer As To The Exact Problem. Meanwhle, I Am Without A Vehicle.*ak
