Since The Time I Bought My New 2010 toyota camry, I Saw Issues With The Way The Car Transmission Worked At Speeds From 0-50mph. Starting From The First Week Of My Using The Car, I Went To The Dealership A Total Of 4 Times, Only To Be Sent Back After A “test Drive” Saying Nothing Is Wrong. In My Own Language, I Had Been Explaining The Issue Which Now Looks Exactly Similar To The ‘sticking Gas Pedal” Recall Recently Informed By toyota. My Car Was Still Accelerating While Braking, Or Would Start Braking When My Foot Is Off The Accelerator. I Also Used To Feel A Jerk When The Car Moved Between Speeds Of 0-50mph. I Commute 70 Miles Daily To Work And I Have Noticed This Daily To The Point That I Have Started Ignoring Out Of Deep Frustration. The Dealer Test Drives And Causes Embarrassment Saying They Cannot Recreate My Issue. I Logged An Incident With toyota (091214-000053). It Led To My Fourth Visit To The Dealer With The Same Answer. toyota‘s Response From A Case Manager Was That If They Cannot Recreate They Will Not Do Anything. I Almost Feel This Is A Hopeless Case As I Don’t Think Neither toyota Nor The Dealership Were Truly Serious About Assisting Me. They Could Have At Least Informed Me That There Are Some Potential Issues With Their Vehicles That They Are Working On. I Reopened A New Case (100130-000604). So Far I Have Received No Recall Notice From toyota. I Don’t Think They Are Handling This The Right Way. I Haven’t Had Any Major Incidents, But I Don’t Think I Can Wait For That To Happen To Get The Attention Of toyota Or Its Dealer. This Is Not A Smart Way Of Solving An Issue. I Feel Disappointed, Angry And Helpless. *tr

I Bought A 2010 toyota camry That Has The New Six Speed Automatic Transmission. When I Was Coasting To Slow Down The Transmission Seemed To Disengage And Did Not Hold Back Anymore. I Came Within A Foot Of Running Into The Rear Of The Car In Front Of Me Which Was Stopped At A Red Light. This Had Happened Many Times Before But Never This Close To An Accident. When The Car Reaches Around 20mph The Transmission Doesn’t Hold Back Any Longer And You Have To Put Your Foot On The Brake Hard. It Is Not A Good Feeling. On May 22, 2009 I Called The Salesman And He Told Me To Come In And Drive Another 2010 camry To See If That Transmission Acted The Same Since This Was The First Year For The New Six Speed Automatic. I Took It In On The 22nd And The Salesman And I Took A New 2010 camry Out For A Drive And It Acted The Same Way. So The Conclusion Was That All The 2010 camrys Were The Same And I Would Have To Live With It. My Wife Is Very Leary About Driving This Car And Afraid She Will Run Into Someone. We Haven’t Had A Problem With The Accelerator, But The Transmission Seems To Be A Problem.we Are Very Concerned Now That The Other Problems Have Arisen About The camry. *tr

Have 2010 camry Next Day After Purchase Car Started Making A Popping Noise Took To Dealership Service Dept. They Didn’t Know What Was Making Noise, Would Check With Outside Tech Had To Call Them After Waiting For Over A Week. Service Dept. Mgr Tells Me It Is Normal That All camrys Make The Noise That It Is The Abs Actuator. New Cars Should Not Be Making A Loud Noise. If This Is Normal Why Didn’t They Know What Is Was The First Time I Took Car In? Service Mgr. Told Me To Turn The Radio On And I Wouldn’t Hear The Noise. Car Automatically Slowed Down While Driving At Nighttime, Had Foot On Accelerator, If A Car Had Been Behind Me They Would Have Hit Me, Put More Pressure On Acc. But Engine Just Revived Was Able To Quickly Turn Engine Off And Restart Car Would Not Change Into Gear As It Should Seemed As If Hung In Low. Have Had Brake Pedal Go To Floor As If No Brakes. Have Taken Car To Dealership Serv. Dept But Kept Being Told Nothing Showed Up On Computer. I Told Them I Couldn’t Help What Was Or Wasn’t On Computer But Those Things Did Happen And Were Happening. Two Weeks Before, I Had Two Recall Fixes Done For My 2010 camry (sticky Pedal, Floor Mat Entrapment). Although For The Initial Two Days, It Looked Like Maybe It Worked, Since Then The Same Old Problems With The Car Are Persisting. In The Past, Leading To The Recall Fix, I Had Lodged Several Complaints (including One Before The Gas Pedal Recall Announcement) With toyota And Their Dealer. My Car Has A Weird Transmission At Speeds 0-45mph. The Braking Is Also Not Smooth And It Does Feel Like The Car Is For A Second Not Accelerating When It Should Or Brake When It Should. At This Time, I Have Given Up On This As It Seems To Be A Waste Of Time Trying To Explain My Position And Get It Fixed. A Second Attempt To Reach Out To toyota Through Their Website (since Their 1800 Support Number Keeps You Waiting Forever) – [incident: 100130-000604] On 1/30. My Cars Transmission Shifting Is Very Rough And “clunky” When Coming To A Stop Sign Or Traffic Light. Many Times The Car Will Seem To Downshift Resulting In A Strong Pulling (almost A Braking Sensation) Preventing A Normal Coasting To A Stop Since, You Need To Keep Pressing The Accelerator To Counteract The Downshifting During A Slow Down. This Has Almost Caused An Accident Several Times. Also, Conversely, The Transmission Seems To Push The Car Forward In The Final Breaking Moments Due To The Transmission Shifting Patterns. I Have Almost Bumped The Car In Front Of Me A Few Times Because Of This. I Have Taken The Car To The Dealership And The Transmission Has Been Recalibrated Several Times Resulting In A Temporary Fix But, The Problem Returns, Sometimes In Less Than 24 Hours Of The Recalibrating. I Believe This Is A Safety Concern Due To My Experiences Of Near Accidents With My Car. *tr

My 2010 camry Has Been To The Dealer A Few Times. Know One Seems To Be Able To Duplicate The Acceleration Surge I’m Experiencing. I Contacted toyota Directly. They Sent Me To Different Dealer. Dealer Had It For A Day And Said The Same Thing “can’t Duplicate” I Think They Have All Been Schooled To Say This. I Had The Service Manager Ride With Me And Told Him To Watch The Rpm Dial When I Go To Stop. He Saw The Rpm Dial Move Up To Almost 2000 When I Hit The Brake. He Had Me Drive Another 2010 camry And It Did The Same Thing. I Had A 98 Avalon And A 03 camry That Did Not Do This. He Explained To Me That This Is The Way These New Cars Down Sift And It’s Different Than The Older toyota

3-5-2013 tacoma 2012 Trd 4×4 Automatic New, I Noticed A Vibration On Acceleration In 1st Gear Through 2nd Gear In The First Few Days Of Purchase. However, Because Of My Job Travel And Just Being Lazy I Never Discussed This Issue Until Recently. The 1st Time I Brought It To My Dealer Was 31 Jan 2013 13,433 Mi. The Dealer Acknowledged The Vibration And Said toyota Will Attempt To Fix This Problem With A Three Tier Fix. 1. They Ordered Engine Mounts Per Tsb. 2. Feb 2013 I Brought The Vehicle Back They Installed The Mounts, Did Not Fix The Problem. As Part Of This Tier Fix, While In For Repair They Also Replaced Rear Spring Assy. Right & Left And The Final Step 3. Replacing Steering Wheel Damper Sha Per Tsb. The Dealer Said All This Did Not Help. 28 Feb 2013 14,325 Mi, I Returned After Putting More Miles On This Troubled Vehicle. This Time They Removed The Drive Shaft And Drove The Vehicle In 4wd And Vibration Gone. They Installed A Drive Shaft From A New tacoma 2013 And The Vibration Returned. They Said They Created A Tas Case #. The ( Product Engineer) ?? Said This Vibration Is Normal And Cannot Be Fixed At This Time And Is Under Review. I Must Say That My Dealership Has Been Very Accommodating Kudos-kudos. I Feel That Any Vibration In The Drive Train Of Any Vehicle Cannot Be Considered Normal. This Problem Has Been With toyota For A While So It Seems And I Ask Why, Why,why. toyota Knows The Above Fixes Do Not Fix The Problem In Any Way. So Why Are They Still Doing It ??

2011 toyota tacoma. Consumer Writes In Regards To Problems With The Transmission And Security System In Vehicle. . *smd The Consumer Stated One Day As She Was Leaving Work, The Vehicle Would Not Start. It Seemed As Though The Vehicle Didn’t Recognize The Key And She Was Unsuccessful At Jump Starting It. The Vehicle Was Towed To The Dealer And The Problem Was Determined To Be With The Security System, Which Had Been Installed And Had Not Been Removed Completely. She Also Stated The Automatic Transmission Was Not Shifting Correctly, Particularly When Shifting Up Hills, It Required Her To Forceful Apply The Accelerator Pedal To Get The Vehicle To Go Appropriately. Again, She Took The Vehicle To The Dealer, But The Computer Stated There Was Nothing Wrong. The Problem Seemed To Be Getting Worse, When In Early December The Consumer Was In Route Over A Double Lane Road Over A Mountain, When The Truck Suddenly Felt As Though It Had Slipped Out Of Gear, There Was No power To The Drive Train And There Was A Grinding Sensation From The Gas Pedal. The Consumer Was Able To Pull Over To The Side Of The Road, Put The Vehicle In Park, Then Drive And Proceeded Again. A Similar Event Occurred As She Made Her Way Back Over The Mountain At The End Of The Day. However, The Vehicle Lost power Again And It Did Not Respond To The Accelerator Pedal, But It Also Made A Very Fast Clicking Sound. The Consumer Went Back To The Dealer, Only To Be Told There Was Nothing Wrong. The Mechanic Decided To Test Drive The Vehicle And Noted The Vehicle Seemed To Be Sluggish In The Automatic Drive Position, But Seemed To Function More Responsively In The 4th Position.

While Slowing To 10-12 Mph My 2010 tacoma V-6 4×4 ‘s Automatic Transmission Will Slip Into What Seems To Be Neutral For About 2-3 Seconds. Engine Rpm’s Will Rise To About 2500-3000 Rpm’s Before Transmission Re-engages. This Situation Has Nearly Gotten Me Involved In 5 Accidents. I First Noticed The Problem When The Vehicle Had About 150 Miles On It. The Problem Seems To Occur When You Slow For Either A Left Or Right Turn Or When You Slow To 10-12 Mph And Then Try To Resume power . Vehicle Has Been To Selling Dealer 3 Times To Have This Issue Resolved But Has Not Been Fixed. Dealers Transmission Mechanic Went For A Test Drive With Me And This Condition Was Duplicated Within 5 Minutes. toyota Customer Service Has Been Notified And So Far No Fix Has Been Forthcoming. This Is A Very Dangerous Condition And Could Cause A Very Serious Accident. *tr

While Slowing And Making Right Or Left Turns, My 2010 tacoma V-6 4×2 Automatic Transmission Will Slip Into Either Neutral Or First Gear For Several Seconds (typically 2 Or 3). Engine Rpm Increase And Then Transmission Shifts Into The Correct Gear With A Lurch. This Defect Makes Left Turns, Across Traffic, Especially Difficult And Dangerous, Since You Never Know If It Will Happen And How Long It Will Take To Hunt For And Find The “right” Gear. I First Notice The Issue After Driving About 75 Miles (have A Little Over 800 Miles Now). Been To Dealer Twice. Demonstrated Problem With Service Manager In The Truck. He Had No Solution For The Problem. He “hopes” toyota Will Come Out With A Fix. toyota Has A Similar Defect With The 2009 tacomas And Issued On November 3, 2009 Technical Service Bulletin T-sb-0373-09. But Tsb Only Eliminated The Defect In The 2009 Model. Does Not Address 2010 Trucks. This Defect Needs To Be Resolved Quickly Before Someone Get Injured. *tr

The Vehicle Surges Unexpectedly. One Or More Times A Day, Depending On Travel Needs, I Experience Surges Both At Complete Stops And When Accelerating. Depressing The Accelerator Pedal From A Stop Or Roll Includes A “delay” In Response From The Vehicle, Then The Unexpected Surge Is Noticed. Generally, A Small Amount Of Pressure On The Pedal Does Not Yield A Desired Acceleration Effect, Instead A “wait And Go” Effect Is Experienced. Several Times, This Delay Has Caused Near Misses In Terms Of Accidents. Expecting The Vehicle To Respond To Accelerator Pressure But Not Getting Acceleration Is Considered Hazardous. Surging Forward Violently When At A Complete Stop Is Another Concern. With The Brakes Completely Depressed, The Vehicle Will Surge Forward At Most Traffic Lights Or During Stop And Go Traffic. This Vehicle Was Brought To The Dealer A Week After Purchase With My Concerning Of Shifting And Sometime Erratic Behavior. The Dealership Did Little More Than Take A Short Test Drive With Me (no Diagnostics, No Formal Or Mechanical Evaluation), And Tell Me Nothing Was Wrong With The Truck. The Truck Had Less Than 1000 Miles On It, Now With 2600 Miles, The Problems Persist. *tr

My tacoma 2010 Seems To Slip Out Of Gear Going Around Corners — After I’ve Slowed Down To Round The Corner The Truck Revs High When The Gas Pedal Is Depressed Again. After A Few Seconds It Lurches Forward When It Finally Gets Into Gear. This Problem Occurs At Almost All Corners, But Not From A Stopped Position. I Do No Think The Corner Causes The Problem, It’s Just That The Truck Is Downshifting, Then Up-shifting Again. I Noticed This Behavior Within The First Week I Had The Truck, And It Has Been Getting Worse Ever Since. I Took It Into A toyota Dealership Who Said They Applied A Software Patch And That It Is Now “fixed.” The Dealership Says The Truck’s Computer Does Not Show Any Problem “codes” That Would Indicate A Problem. I Will Pick Up The Truck Tomorrow, So I Don’t Know At This Time If It Indeed Has Been Fixed. *tr
